The advanced course in nephrology is part of a common acute chronic module, together with the advanced courses in geriatrics, oncology, and gastroenterology.

The advanced course syllabus in nephrology is focused on pathophysiology of the urinary system and is intended to strengthen your diagnostic and treatment skills in patients suffering from chronic kidney diseases, acute kidney diseases, and their derivatives.
The curriculum includes theoretical study hours and clinical practice hours.
The clinical practice is conducted in 2 tracks, according to prior clinical experience of the students.
Track A is designed for students have been employed for at least a consecutive year on a full-time basis, or an equivalent, in the hemodialysis field, and it includes 390 hours of study, of which:
Track B is designed for students with no clinical experience in the hemodialysis field, and it includes 490 hours, of which:
To be accepted to track A, you must bring a declaration form, signed by the nursing department in the institution at which you work, attesting that you have been employed a consecutive year, at least, in the hemodialysis field, on a full-time basis, or an equivalent. You must submit the form when you start studying.

After meeting the studies requirements and completion of studies, and for the purpose of registering as an advanced nursing course graduate, you must successfully pass the licensure exam.
The exam content and structure vary and are adapted according to the field and knowledge acquired.
In this course you will take the licensure exam in a simulation-based method.
The simulation licensure exams include clinically representing conditions, which visualize reality, and to solve them one should make use of the knowledge and psychomotor and communication skills acquired in the course.
The exam involves switching between different stations (simulations), determined according to the characteristics of the field of training you have studied.

The licensure simulation exams for the advanced nursing courses are conducted in MSR – the Israel Center for Medical Simulation – the National Education Center for Healthcare Professionals, the Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.
