This advanced course is designed to provide nurses with knowledge of public health: monitoring and prevention of morbidity and health promotion in the community
The advanced course in morbidity prevention, health promotion and breastfeeding counseling is designed to give you knowledge in monitoring and morbidity prevention and health promotion at the level of the individual, the family and the community.
After the training you will be able, as public health nurses, to monitor and prevent morbidity, promote health at the level of the individual, the family and the community as well as guide families regarding sleep, physical activity and counseling in the field of breastfeeding.
The course consists of lectures, discussions, workshops, exercises and simulation. The clinical experience is conducted under the guidance of experts in the field and clinical instructors at the health bureaus, family stations, breastfeeding clinics and child development institutes.
Curriculum
The study program includes 684 study hours, of which:
436 theoretical study hours
248 clinical experience hours
Prerequisite for applying to the program
- You are citizens or residents of Israel.
- You have certified nurse license in the State of Israel.
- You have a bachelor's degree in nursing.
An accredited degree in nursing is a degree accredited by interinstitutional committee at the Salary and Employment Agreements Department at the Ministry of Finance. The list of degrees is updated from time to time in the circular: "Academic degrees accredited for salary purposes in the civil service, Clalit Health Services and Hadassah Medical Center and Shaare Zedek Medical Center - nursing" (Hebrew). - You have passed the selection examination for the advanced courses in nursing with a score of 70 or higher and the score is valid (3 calendar years from the date of the exam) or if you are entitled to an exemption from a selection examination.

State licensure examination
After graduation and in order to register an advanced course graduate in the nursing register you must successfully pass the State Nursing Board Licensure Examination.
The content and the structure of the exam vary from course to course and are adapted to the field and knowledge acquired in them.
In this course you will pass licensing exams using a simulation method.
The simulation licensing exams include representative clinical situations, simulating reality, in order to solve them you must use the psychomotor and communication knowledge and skills you worked on in the course.
The exam includes a transition between different stations (simulations), which are determined according to the characteristics of the field of training you studied.
Among the different stations:
- Execution station simulator (dummy).
- Simulation station versus a player.
- An investigation station about the simulation against a player.
- Analysis station describing a clinical situation using a video/audio tape (computerized).
- Knowledge stations in front of a computer 50 multiple – choice questions ("American test)
- The licensing exams in simulation for advanced courses are held at "Messer" – the National Center for Medical Simulation- the National Training Building for Health Workers at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.

Community of lactation consultants
Nurses who have successfully completed the course are invited to our community of lactation consultants, this professional community is intended for all nurses and lactation consultants. In this community we share knowledge and ideas around the field of breastfeeding, consult and discuss professional challenges and use useful tools, presentations and videos for joint learning and improving the professional care all of us.
