Esty is a head nurse in the Pediatric Emergency Room at Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon. She lives in the moshav of Tkuma in the Gaza Envelope.

On Saturday, 7.10.23, Esty awoke to a barrage of missiles. Several minutes later, shots were heard in the area and residents were asked to remain in their locked homes.
At the same time, she was notified of a mass casualty event in the hospital. The department reported there were many wounded children and soldiers.
Esty decided to go to the hospital to help the staff treat the patients. She left home at 10:30, drove towards Ashkelon, without knowing that terrorists were still on the way and that terrorists were eliminated at the entrance to the moshav just a few minutes beforehand.
