An advanced operation theater certificate course focuses on the nursing care of patients before, during and after surgery.
The course imparts knowledge about the safety of workers and patients in operating rooms. Prevention of infections, skills to assess the patient, responding to various situations, types of anesthesia, medications and more
This advanced course focuses on nursing care of patients before surgery, during surgery and after surgery, in simple and complex surgeries. During the course you will also get to know the roles of nurses in the operating room.
The course will give knowledge about the safety of the patient in the operating room and the safety of the worker in the operating room, preventing infections in the operating room, developing skills to assess the patient's condition before and during surgery and responding to changing situations, surgical techniques, types of anesthesia and anesthetic drugs, operating room procedures, developing communication skills with patients and their families, reducing anxiety before surgery and dealing with the state of loss.
In the clinical experience, you will be able to participate in the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative care as well as experience skills required in complex surgeries as a circulating and scrub nurse.
Curriculum
The curriculum includes hours of theoretical study and hours of clinical experience.
The clinical experience takes place in 2 routes, according to the previous clinical experience of the learners.
Route A
Intended for students who have been employed for at least one consecutive year, in the scope of a full-time position, or equivalent, in an operating room and includes 515 study hours, of which:
- 299 theoretical study hours
- 216 clinical experience hours
Route B
Intended for students without a year of clinical experience in the operating room and includes 715 study hours, of which:
- 299 theoretical study hours
- 416 clinical experience hours
In order to be admitted to studies in route A, you must bring a declaration form signed by the director of nursing at the institution where you work, indicating that you have been employed for at least one consecutive year in the operating room, in the scope of a full-time position , or equivalent, you must submit the form at the beginning of your studies.
Prerequisite for applying to the program
- You are citizens or residents of Israel.
- You have certified nurse license in the State of Israel.
- You have a bachelor's degree in nursing.
An accredited degree in nursing is a degree accredited by interinstitutional committee at the Salary and Employment Agreements Department at the Ministry of Finance. The list of degrees is updated from time to time in the circular: "Academic degrees accredited for salary purposes in the civil service, Clalit Health Services and Hadassah Medical Center and Shaare Zedek Medical Center - nursing" (Hebrew). - You have passed the selection examination for the advanced courses in nursing with a score of 70 or higher and the score is valid (3 calendar years from the date of the exam) or if you are entitled to an exemption from a selection examination.
