This course is a part of an adult cooperative acute module. It deals with signs and symptoms assessment in critical and complex conditions, and is intended to provide skills of treatment and guidance.
The advanced course in combined intensive care is a part of an adult cooperative acute module, together with the advanced courses in emergency medicine and Cerebrovascular Accident (stroke).

In the advanced course in combined intensive care, you will study signs and symptom assessment in critical and complex conditions, diagnosis, deciding on treatment and assessment in various representing conditions according to body systems.
Curriculum
The curriculum includes theoretical study hours and clinical practice hours.
Clinical practice is conducted in 2 tracks, according to the prior clinical experience of the students.
Track A
Track A is designed for students have been employed for at least a year in a row on a full-time basis, or equivalent, in the General Intensive Care Unit, and it includes 348 hours of study, of which:
- 248 hours of theoretical study
- 100 hours of clinical practice
Track B
Track B is designed for students who have been employed in Intensive Care Units that are not General Intensive Care (Cardiac Intensive Care, recovery, Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care, Neurosurgical Intensive Care, etc.), as well as students with no prior clinical experience in the Intensive Care Unit, and it includes 448 hours, of which:
- 248 hours of theoretical study
- 200 hours of clinical practice
To be accepted to track A studies, you must bring a declaration form, signed by the Nursing Administration in the institution you work, attesting that you have been employed a year in a row, at least, in a General Intensive Care Unit, on a full-time basis, or equivalent. You must send the form when starting your studies.
Prerequisites for admission to the program
- You are a citizen or a resident of the state of Israel
- You are holding a registered nurse licensure certificate in the state of Israel
- You have a bachelor's degree in nursing.
An accredited degree in nursing is a degree accredited by interinstitutional committee at the Salary and Employment Agreements Department at the Ministry of Finance. The list of degrees is updated from time to time in the circular: "Academic degrees accredited for salary purposes in the civil service, Clalit Health Services and Hadassah Medical Center and Shaare Zedek Medical Center - nursing" (Hebrew). - You have passed the placement test for the advanced nursing courses with a grade of 70 or higher, and the grade is valid (3 calendar years from the exam date), or you are eligible for an exemption from the selection exam

State licensure examination
After meeting the studies requirements and completion of studies, and for the purpose of being registered as an advanced nursing course graduate, you must successfully pass the licensure exam. The exam content and structure change from course to course and are adapted to the field and knowledge acquired.
In this course you will take the licensure exam in a simulation-based method.
The simulation licensure exams include clinically representative conditions, which visualize reality, and to handle them one should make use of the knowledge and psychomotor and communication skills acquired in the course.
The exam includes switching between different stations (simulations), determined according to the characteristics of the field of training you have studied.
Among the diverse types of stations:
- Performance station simulator (manikin)
- Simulation station with an actor
- Inquiry station about the simulation with an actor
- Analysis station of a clinical conditions by a video film/ audio recording (computerized)
- Knowledge station with a computer – 50 multiple choice questions
