Natalie Dvira

Midwife at Barzilai Medical Center

Was in the Gaza Envelope on Saturday, 7.10.23.

On Saturday, 7.10.23, Natalie was supposed to work the morning shift in the delivery room at Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.
Earlier that morning, she left her home in the moshav of Zarua.

Already during the trip, Natalie could see the interceptions. Initially she was not scared since for residents of the south, this is not an unusual event but, according to her, this time was different.
Natalie called her husband and warned him to be prepared with the children since they did not have a safe room in their home and continued traveling despite hearing the sirens.

Upon arriving at the Sderot – Nir Am intersection, she saw a roadside shelter and decided to stop there. In the shelter, she met young people who fled the festival near Re’im and were frightened. She began to calm them down and make sure that everyone was all right.
One of the young people said that he thought that the whistling he heard sounded like gunshots and not Iron Dome interceptions.

Suddenly, two military vehicles stopped. Soldiers exited the vehicle and ordered everyone to travel quickly since there was a terrorist infiltration.
Natalie began traveling towards Sderot on a road full of terrorists and it seemed like an eternity until she passed the home of her co-worker, Diana Mordechai.
When she arrived at Diana’s home in Sderot, Natalie entered with Diana and her family into the safe room, and locked the door. They remained in the safe room for an entire day until they were notified that there were no more terrorists in Sderot.
