The syllabus of the stroke certificate course focuses on pathophysiology of stroke, risk factors, complications and identifying methods skills, assessment, as well as treatment of a patient with an acute stroke and after the stroke. Furthermore, the program deals with health promotion, disease prevention and continuation of treatment, including discharge to the community and rehabilitation. This advanced course will provide you with knowledge and training for decision-making in this field.
Clinical practice will help you develop assessment skills, identifying methods, and comprehensive care of a patient with an acute stroke and after the stroke, in various stages and in diverse degrees of damage severity.
Curriculum
The study program includes 458 study hours, of which:
- 274 theoretical study hours
- 184 clinical experience hours
Prerequisites for admission to the program
- You are a citizen or a resident of Israel
- You have a registered nurse licensure certificate in Israel
- You have a bachelor's degree in nursing.
An accredited degree in nursing is a degree accredited by interinstitutional committee at the Salary and Employment Agreements Department at the Ministry of Finance. The list of degrees is updated from time to time in the circular: "Academic degrees accredited for salary purposes in the civil service, Clalit Health Services and Hadassah Medical Center and Shaare Zedek Medical Center - nursing" (Hebrew). - You have passed the selection exam for the advanced nursing courses with a grade of 70 or higher, and the grade is valid (3 calendar years from the exam date), or you are eligible for an exemption from the selection exam

State licensure exam
After meeting the studies requirements and completion of studies, and for the purpose of registering as an advanced nursing course graduate, you must successfully pass the licensure exam.
The exam content and structure vary and are adapted according to the field and knowledge acquired.
In this course you will take the licensure exam in a simulation-based method.
The simulation licensure exams include clinically representing conditions, which visualize reality, and to solve them one should make use of the knowledge and psychomotor and communication skills acquired in the course.
The exam involves switching between different stations (simulations), determined according to the characteristics of the field of training you have studied.
Among the station types:
- Performance station simulator (manikin)
- Simulation station with an actor
- Inquiry station about the simulation with an actor
- Analysis station of a clinical condition by a video film/audio recording (computerized)
- Knowledge station with a computer – 50 multiple choice questions
The licensure simulation exams for the advanced nursing courses are conducted in MSR – the Israel Center for Medical Simulation – the National Education Center for Healthcare Professionals, the Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.
