Guidelines for examinees in the alternative examination
- The licensure examination takes place at the MSR (The National Center for Medical Simulation), at Sheba Medical Center, Tel HaShomer. No need to arrive in the auditorium at floor -1. Do not go up to the examination floor unless escorted by MESER staff.
- You are to appear on the time specified in the Nursing Division's letter of summons. Examinees who will be late will not be allowed to take the examination.
- Participation in the examination is conditioned upon identification with an identity document only.
- You are to arrive in uniform (scrubs or pants and shirt) on the examination day.
- Upon intake, you will be briefed by the MSR staff. During briefing you will receive information about the course of the examination day and you will receive a personal bag with an identification badge and a sheet of identification stickers.
- During the examination you will be required to turn off your phones and to hand them over to the MESER staff, as well as some other personal articles.
General guidelines
- All examinees take all the stations in the examination, each examinee at a different order. Some examinees will begin the examination at the knowledge station and after it will proceed to the alternative examination, while other examinees will take the examination in reverse order.
- While moving between stations it is strictly prohibited to speak with other examinees.
- The MSR staff will be at the examinees' service to provide them with guidance and instruction throughout the examination day.
- Throughout the examination day you will be able to enjoy some light refreshments and warm beverages.
- There will be paid parking at Tel HaShomer Hospital.
- Breastfeeding women who wish to pump or breastfeed are required to inform the Nursing Division through their training institution.
- Examinees who suffer from any medical issues that may affect their performance in the examination are required to inform the Department of Nursing Licensure Exams at least one week before the examination date in order to receive guidelines for their participation in the examination.
Guidelines for examinees in the multiple choice licensure examination that will take place on a different date
Please note:
The part of the licensure examination for advanced nursing courses that administers multiple choice questions for following fields: midwifery, infections prevention, clinical instruction and continued dispensing arrangements, will be held in a computer-based format.
For all other fields, the computer-based part of the licensure examination for advanced nursing courses concerned with multiple-choice questions may be separated for another examination session.
The examination site
The examination site will be communicated up to one month before the examination date in the website of the Nursing Division.
The examination times will be detailed in the summons letter.
*Each examinee's assigned examination halls and examination time will be communicated in the summons letter.
The course of the examination
The examination will only be administered on a computer, without any papers or accompanying documents. The Department of Nursing Licensure Exams will provide all necessary computer equipment. On screen you will have the option to use draft pages and to use a calculator, and a draft sheet will be attached to your desk. It is strictly prohibited to take the draft sheet at the end of the examination. In each hall there will be technicians to provide an immediate response to any technical issues. You are to bring the following to the examination with you:
- The letter of summons to the examination, printed.
- An identity document or a valid passport for identification purposes (a driver's license is not valid as substitute).
- A black or dark blue pen.
- A wrist watch (there are no clocks on the walls of the examination halls, and you are not allowed to bring any smart watches).
- Drinks and light refreshments (that do not make any noise).
- Warm clothes (the place is air conditioned. Dress accordingly).
Prohibited equipment and materials in the examination
- Electronic/printed dictionary
- Aid sheets / drafts
- Mobile phone devices
- Ear buds
- Smart watch, flash drive or any other electronic device that can be used for photography, recording or communication.
Conduct during the examination
- When entering the examination hall, leave your personal bag with all of your equipment at the front of the hall. You will only be allowed to reach for your personal bag at the end of the examination. Take your seat at the desk where your name and examinee number are written. They are the same as in your summons letter. Do not change seats.
- Items permitted on your desk: only an identity document/passport and a bottle of water.
- Going to the restroom will only be permitted subject to the hall monitor's approval, starting from 45 minutes after the beginning of the examination and up to thirty minutes before the end.
- Completion of the examination:
- Once you enter the hall, you will not be allowed to leave the hall until the end of the examination.
- Hall opening time: about 45 minutes before the beginning of the examination.
Academic integrity during the examination
The Nursing Division's sees with utmost severity any deviation from the code of academic integrity during the examination, starting from the identification process upon entry to the hall. Any of the following shall be considered as failure to follow the code of academic integrity during the examination:
- Using aid sheets
- Communicating with and assisting any other examinee, in any way, shape or form
- Receiving assistance from any other examinee in any way, shape or form
- Removing examination materials from the examination hall, either physically or by copying or photography
- Using electronic devices and other devices during the examination
- Abusing the restroom break for communicating or receiving information
The Department of Nursing Licensure Exams holds the power to disqualify any examinee and/or to summon them for an audit before the Nursing Division's Committee for Academic Integrity of Examinations in any case of suspicion that they have violated the academic integrity code.
The examination results and score transcript
The scores will be sent by text message (SMS), and also uploaded to the Healthcare Professionals Portal, within up to 30 business days. On the Healthcare Professionals Portal, you can print an examination score transcript. View your score
Also, as needed, you can also appeal the score on the portal, subject to the terms and conditions.
Additional session for the alternative examinations
An additional session of the alternative examinations will be held in the summer time and is intended for examinees who have failed the examination or who did not take the first session of the alternative examination. The summer session will only be held if a minimum number of examinees register for it. The Department of Nursing Licensure Exams will send an update if an additional session will be held or not.
