Selection Examination for Candidates of Advanced Nursing Courses
Evaluation of suitability for professional development in various fields
Are you interested in applying to an advanced nursing course? You may have to take a selection examination. What is a selection examination? Who is eligible to apply and how is the enrollment done?
You can get an exemption from the selection examination if you meet the following criteria:
- You have a PhD degree that is recognized in Israel.
- You have successfully completed an advanced course in Israel in the past 5 years preceding the year of registration for the advanced course you now wish to enroll in.
- You have successfully completed a nurse practitioner course in Israel in the past 5 years preceding the year of registration for the advanced course you now wish to enroll in.
- You scored a grade of 70 and up in the registered nurse licensure examination, which you have taken in the 4 calendar years preceding the year of registration for the advanced course you now wish to enroll in.
You may take the selection examination if you have met all the registration and admission requirements for the advanced nursing course:
- You are a citizen or a resident of Israel
- You hold a permanent license, authorizing you to practice nursing as a registered nurse
- You have a recognized nursing academic degree (including graduates of nurse training program for university graduates)
The requirements for enrollment in the advanced nursing course selection exam (and the documents you need to submit to enroll) are the same as the conditions for admission to a continuing education program, as detailed here.
Enrollment takes place directly at the institute you choose to take the exam. Enrollment for the selection examination must be completed one month prior to the exam date.
The selection examinations take place twice a year, on dates and at institutions determined by the Nursing Division.
The exam takes two hours and includes 70 multiple choice questions.
The Nursing Division takes very seriously any violation of the the exam code of ethics during the test, starting from the identification stage at the entrance. Any of the following acts will be regarded as a violation:
- Using reference pages;
- Any form of communication or assistance given to another examinee;
- Any form of assistance received from another examinee;
- Physically taking out exam materials, by means of photocopying or photographing;
- Using electronic aids and/or other aids during the exam;
- Receiving/transferring information while leaving for the restroom
The Department of Nursing Licensure Exams reserves the right to disqualify and/or to summon an examinee for a hearing before the Nursing Division's Exam Code of Conduct Committee in case of any alleged violation of the exam code of conduct.
A passing score in the selection examination is 70. The score is valid for 3 years from the exam date.
The scores will be sent by SMS and advertised by the Nursing Division on the Healthcare Professionals Portal, where you can:
- View the score
- Produce and print a score confirmation letter (score confirmation letters will not be sent by Israel Post)
- Register to appealing the exam score
Entering the portal is with a username and a password.
- Examinees that have used the portal in the past can enter by submitting their login details
- Examinees with no entry details will receive an email from the Ministry of Health with a link to the portal and a username

Important!
It is the candidate's responsibility to notify the Nursing Division in case of change to the contact details.
If your mobile phone cannot receive text messags (SMS), please provide a mobile phone number of an acquaintance who can receive the message for you. To update your details or handle technical issues, please contact Kol Habriut call center (*5400).
If you received a score of 68 or 69 in the selection examination, you are eligible to file an appeal, according to the government licensure exam appeal procedure.
An appeal can be filed up to 14 days from date of score publication in the Healthcare Professionals Portal.
Additional details, including date of appeal, will be forwarded to eligible applicants.
