Last stage before receiving nurse practitioner status
Last stage before receiving nurse practitioner status
In order to start working as nurse practitioner – you need to take the State Nursing Board Licensure Examination and register as a nurse practitioner in the Nursing Licensure Registry (Hebrew), in accordance with the Public Health Protection Regulations (Nurse Practitioner Certificate Approval), 2013 (Hebrew).
The exam will take place after completion of studies, according to the exam schedule appearing on the Nursing Division website. It will be conducted in Hebrew. Interns who have met all the syllabus requirements are eligible to take the exam.
There are two parts - written and oral exams. You must pass the written exam to take the oral exam. The period between the written and oral exams will be at least two weeks.
The exam comprises of 100 multiple-choice questions out of the compulsory reading list in the syllabus.
The exam will be constructed by specialists in the relevant field and will consist of two scenarios, at least.
Each examinee will be examined in the presence of a panel of examiners, consisting of at least two practitioners in the relevant field, as well as a Nursing Divison representative.
In a field requiring clinical nursing practice, the panel of examiners will include a physician who specializes in the field, and a clinical practitioner nurse, in the relevant field.
The Nursing Divison takes very seriously any attempt to compromise the integrity of the exams during the exam, starting from the identification stage at the entrance. Any of the following actions will be regarded as violation of the code of conduct:
The Department of Licensure Examinations reserves the right to disqualify and/or to summon an examinee for a hearing before the Nursing Division's Exam Code of Conduct Committee in any event of suspected violation of the exam's code of conduct.
A passing score is 70 in each stage. The final score is the average of the two exams (written and oral).
You can register as a clinical practitioner nurse in the Nursing Licensure Registry only if you have obtained a passing score in both parts of the exam.
The score of the licensure exam for the nurse practitioner certificate will be sent by the Licensure Examination Department by SMS and by email.
Examinees that have scored 60 to 69 may submit an appeal in writing only. Further details for appealing the exam results can be found in the Government Nurse Practitioner Licensure Examination Procedure (Hebrew).
